Murphy

Hi folks, I’m Murphy. I am about 1 year old and a yellow male. I am neutered, housebroken, have my shots, good with dogs, and I love people. BUT I have a terrible story to tell you about what happened to me. So you had better sit down, this one will really make you cry!

I was thrown out of a pickup truck by my owners in Lancaster County, PA. Someone saw it happen, got the tag number and then took me to the local shelter since they could see that I was hurt. Well, much to everyone’s surprise, I had what the shelter refers to as an “Amish Neuter”. As I understand it, it is the way farmers neuter their farm animals. I hate being thought of as a farm animal or livestock! The procedure is this: They cut the skin near the testicles and fold it back. Then rubber bands are put around the top of the testicles so they will dry up and fall off. Well, seems that my neuter “went bad”. I was infected and the rubber bands had grown into my body. I had to have emergency surgery. I had a high fever, felt horrible, and was in lots of pain. The vet couldn’t suture me when he was trying to help me, so he had to use staples - ouch, ouch, ouch!!!

The shelter people loved me though! They took good care of me. I am almost all better now. My LRR foster homes says I am nice but I am a silly, goofy puppy. I like other dogs, but don’t really play with them ‘cause I don’t know how, I really don’t like my crate, but I am learning! I know that I sometimes get into things so I need to be confined for my safety.

Gosh, my foster Dad says I am a typical puppy. I need someone to give me TLC and give me a good life. I wish I had gotten a better start - maybe someone will make the rest of my like great! BUT I need an owner who is ready for a puppy and ready to take me to obedience training and help me become a really great adult dog!
