Maggie

My name is Maggie. I am a very petite, yellow female - I weigh only 50lbs. My birthdate is 11/13/2004; I am spayed, housebroken, crate trained, good with dogs and cats. I have AKC papers (I think that is supposed to mean something - I am just not sure what!).

I do have a story to tell, so please continue to read.

Like two other AKC registered females in LRR before me, I am the Lab part of Labradoodle. Yes, I was breeding stock - just like my cousins Princess and Margo from sometime ago. Once again, the Labradoodle breeder had finished using one of us girls for breeding; thank goodness she sent me to LRR. My foster mom told me that the breeder was charging a lot of money for each of my puppies. A shelter would be a better place to get a puppy, then I wouldn’t have had to go thru all of this over and over again.

When I got to LRR I had recently whelped my last litter of pups. LRR got me spayed, and the vet said I had been overbred, had way too many litters of pups. As a result, I had some problems after my spay, and had to have another surgery. My foster family stuck by me and I am fine now. And I am looking for a new home. Mind you, I am still trying to firm up after having so many babies.

As for my personality, I am still learning about toys and being in a house with people. I am loving this life though! I love to follow people around and watch them-never knew that people watching could be SO much fun. I also get so excited that I get the Zoomies outside - I tuck my tail, put my ears back and run in the wind! What fun I am having.

When I first got here, I had to take some pills and my foster Mom tried to wrap the pill in some weird stuff she called cheese - it didn’t taste good. I wrinkled my nose, and spit it out along with the pill. So, next she tried some white stuff - she said it was called cool whip-gosh it was as bad as the cheese–and yes, I wrinkled my nose and spit it all out again! Then there was ham - it was no good either. I have never had anything like this stuff. In desperation, my foster mom, just put those pills in the back of my throat…that wasn’t so bad - I didn’t have to taste any of that yucky stuff. But I am learning to like some of those things now, after all, the other dogs seem to get so excited about it—I guess I’ll figure out what is so good about cheese, cool whip and ham.

I think I am ready for a new forever home. I would like to have a person that wants to cuddle, likes to have a shadow and will love me even if my body is a bit out of shape. I’ll bat my eyelashes at you, give you kisses and make your heart melt. (Check out those eyelashes of mine-any woman would be jealous!)

I’ll be looking at applications and I hope to meet my new folks soon.
