Nigel
My name is Nigel…a proper English name for a proper English boy! I am a chocolate male, neutered, up to date on shots, housebroken and crate trained; I weigh 73 lbs. I am just a young man–about 14-16 months old. I was a stray in the shelter.
Well, I am really happy that LRR came in to visit with me at the shelter. I heard someone at the shelter say that no one wanted me because I am blind in one eye. I didn’t think the LRR folks noticed that I can’t see out of my right eye–I thought I fooled them! Then I heard them talking about me going to see a special doctor to find out what is going on with my eye. I can tell them, it doesn’t work, but I don’t care, I have one that works great!
My foster Mom took me to see a really nice doctor that looked deep into my eyes. She said that I have glaucoma in my right eye.She confirmed for everyone that I am blind in my right eye. She checked my other eye and I have a cataract in that eye. The lady doctor also said that I could lose my sight in my left eye too, but she doesn’t know when. So, I have be prepared to go blind in my left eye, just in case it happens.
I spent the day at the eye doctors office on March 4th. She removed by blind eye and I have a pretend eye in there now. It looks pretty cool, and we don’t want anyone to be turned off by how I look. My foster mom also has to put eye drops in my good eye everyday. I try to be good so she can put the drops in because I have a lot to see just in case I go blind one day soon. I am so happy that LRR is taking good care of me and that they didn’t leave me in shelter just because I can’t see really good.
My very first foster family kept telling my what a great otter tail I have and how perfect my feet are. You’d think they had a foot fettish. At their house I acted like I didn’t want to eat my food, so they added good stuff too it, then I ate. It was a fun game, then they caught on - and I had to eat what all the other dogs were eating.
So, let me tell you how I have these foster homes wrapped around my paw. They all love me. They tell me how gorgeous I am, they hug me, they kiss me and they love to call my name - so I humor them and come running every time. I love to make them laugh - I toss my toys around, I play games with the other dogs; and then when the people are about to hug me, I plant a big slobbery kiss in their face. It really is too funny.
I have been enjoying the snow, I love to go out and put my face in it. We have been running and playing a lot. I also love water, even water in my water bowl; I put my entire face in it - the foster homes think its funny til the water is all over the floor. I guess it’s a good thing that I’m so cute, huh?!
I’m in a foster home that has a young boy. I love giving him kisses and watching him play. And I like to follow him everywhere. They tell me that I might even get to meet some cats to see if I like them. So, check for an update on cat adventure.
I guess I don’t have much of a story, so there really isn’t much to tell - just that I have eyesight problems and I am a handsome English boy. The folks at LRR keep wondering why my family wouldn’t come looking for me when I got lost. No big deal, I am with people that really love me. And they promised that they will find me a new, wonderful, forever home, but first I have a few check up dates with the really nice eye doctor!
In spite of all of my antics, everyone says I am a very well behaved boy. I walk great on a leash. In the evenings I just like to chew on my toys, and rest and watch TV. So if you are looking for a nice settled, but fun, young boy, thats me. I hope to meet some of you really soon.
